The Modern or Contemporary Living Rooms Style

Nov 23rd

Contemporary living rooms – In the field of decoration, inspirations for styles come and go with extreme speed. And of course, we always have the urge to insert each of them into our home. With so much reference available, it becomes increasingly common to mix styles that are often quite different. This combi also makes people end up treating the compositions as one, as is the case with the modern and contemporary living rooms decor. But what differs from one another?. Do they have any similarities?.

The Modern or Contemporary Style

The modern style is closely linked to the modernist movement, a cultural revolution that occurred in the 20th century and influenced literature and the arts, including design. Seeking the concept of freedom, the modern appeared in Brazilian architecture in pure and deconstructed lines, new materials and relationship between the internal and external spaces, resulting in a minimalist aesthetic in which “less is more.”

The contemporary living rooms style, in turn, is a style that has its basis in the modern, but which includes other elements in its composition. The simplicity remains, though now with greater acceptance of the mixture between straight and sinuous lines, especially in furniture.

Here, architects, designers, and their clients have the option of inserting other styles in the space, which allows bringing more color,  accessories and personal touches in the decoration. Although from different moments, both styles resemble the presence of simplicity as a highlight, using the lighting worked in different spaces and furniture with unique features that bring exclusivity.

How to Reproduce a Contemporary Decor

Contemporary living rooms decor demands a more demure attitude to the use of elements and materials within the space, so if the idea is to include it in your home, the ideal is to focus on functionality. Give preference to open spaces and complement them with neutral colors.

The clarity provided by white tones and large openings contributes to the clean and organized look. To break the monotony, the black and the gray are good requests, since they avoid any excess of information.
