It has always been a good thing for me to have a few ideas or items on deck in the event that what I wanted to post on a particular day does not work out. After saying that I am pretty sure you can figure out that today is a prime example of that.

My plan for today was to write up a post on brewing a Pumpkin Ale (a reinvention of the recipe from last year) over the weekend, but I hit a bit of a road block in my efforts to do so. The camera that I would normally use was with The Wife the day I decided to brew, so I dug up our old camera to take photos of the process. That worked well at that moment, but I have not had much luck since then in making an older camera and a newer computer work well together. In short, I have not been able to get the images off the camera just yet.

Though I really only started to try retrieving those photos today, I find myself becoming frustrated and I have no intentions of making myself mental by continuing to bang my head against a wall. So I am throwing my hands up for now and will begin fresh again with a clearer mind tomorrow.

So all of that lead up is just to explain why I am going with a video post for today. This is a video that was put out there a few months ago and I think it shares a good, positive vibe for hump day and provides a little beer drinking motivation as we begin the slide into the weekend.  I also personally enjoy that I immediately recognized most of the faces in it on the first watch.  Enjoy . . .

Maybe I am not sure what the exact moral of the video is supposed to be but I am fairly certain of one specific thing we should all take away after viewing it. I think the entire piece serves as a good reminder to not only drink what beer you like to drink, but also to not just limit yourself to drinking the the beer you think you are supposed to like drinking.

Cheers!

Even though I have been in Florida for well over five years now, December and the Christmas season continues to sneak up on me.  Without the snow that I was used to when growing up in New York the only way I know it is winter is when the Christmas music hits the airwaves.  Then the frantic search for any required gifts begins since I am only left with a short time before I would have to ship anything up north.

It is also the season for me to be thinking of winter seasonals, so that is where the idea for beer news started today.  Below are just a couple stories to assist you when shopping for your friends or family and a few others that I found interesting.

  • Different approaches to starting (and maintaining success with) your own brewery.  Certainly of personal interest to me!

In case any of you have decided to sneak away from your family to check up on your favorite sites, I do have a few good bits of beer news for today.  I will keep it short so you can be back before they even know you have left the room.

The first is a story about a brewery expansion in Colorado, which is another good sign for craft beer in our current economic climate.  The second is from San Diego and discusses expanded beer lists for fine dining establishments.  That is something that should become more and more common if it hasn’t in your area already.
