Little nuggets of beer news come my way almost every week from friends and family and this week I can thank The Wife (as usual) and Cousin Daniel for helping me compile a good list. For the first time in a while I think that I actually held back a bit in only linking to ten today. Baby steps, whether really need or not.
On we go . . .
- Minus a well needed night of sleep at a hotel and a stop at a gas station outside Boise, my experience in Idaho consisted almost entirely of what I was able to see through the windshield as we drove through heading to Seattle. I have always heard good things about craft beer in Idaho so this article caught my eye with both good nuggets of Idaho specific craft beer info and some wider picture stuff.
- After reading that about ninety percent of the beer that they produce is sold within 100 miles of the brewery, I feel even more fortunate to have tried some of their beer at a beer festival in Seattle a while back.
- Granted I did not put much thought into it any any point, I am quite surprised that Yuengling was not available in Ohio already.
- If I am up late at night or rather early in the morning I am at work and not sitting at home watching late night television shows. I am glad that I was made aware of what pouring skills I will need to brush up on before making my future appearance on Jimmy’s show. I am glad they don’t waste any decent beer for this activity.
- Lots of American Black Ales (or Black IPAs I suppose) coming out of Stone in the near future. I suppose if either of both are as good as Sublimely Self-Righteous we will be in for some craft beer goodness.
- I can understand why there is a bit of an argument to be made about having beer shown on your currency, but this would be a coin that I actually would not mind collecting.
- I give him a shred of credit since he drank the beer after the ball was in there, but only a shred because he was not even paying attention to the game enough to know a ball was hit at him. A bit of a different trajectory and we would have had ourselves an even more entertaining clip.
- This is a nice recap of a roundtable discussion of the closeness between craft brewing and the home brewers out there. I should mention that I am pretty sure the head brewer at Sun King is Dave Colt as indicated in the text and not Dave Holt as shown under the image at the top.
- I am not saying that I would not try the beer if given the opportunity, but I am with most of the people quoted in this article and their skepticism of the insanely high IBU tally that this new beer claims to have.
- It would be great for the beer world to have New York be a major hop producer in the United States as it was many, many years ago. Then again maybe I am biased.
