Perhaps I am the only one that looks forward to “Random Thought Sunday,” but I like to think that at least a few of you get some enjoyment out of it as well. It seems to be a good way for me to close the week by either reminiscing about the good things or leaving the things that frustrated me behind. As a wrap up of this week I present you with the following . . .
Random thought #1 – It is pretty cool to have someone do a review on a beer that I made, especially when the person actually enjoyed it. The Brother-in-law will surely be getting samples from future batches.
Random thought #2 – Someone will have to explain to me why I am able to get health insurance on my own at less than half the cost of what my employer was paying for me to have it before. That is just another of the many things in the business world that does not make sense to me.
Random thought #3 – As I found out yesterday, the water in my pool is pretty cold already. Since I still have to keep it clean I intend to continue using it just on principle. The over/under on me quitting on that idea is January.
Random thought #4 – The ability to read faster would really help me out a lot. The Wife will read an entire book while I work my way through only a few chapters. Somehow I must develop that superpower.
Random thought #5 – The glory that is sitting on the couch Sunday afternoon with a few sleeping dogs while drinking good beer and watching football cannot be overstated. I assume that there are others that agree with me on that one?
Onward to another excellent week!

Hi Lucas, Most likely, you get your individual healthcare cheaper than your employer got the group plan because you are young and statistically very healthy. A group plan takes an aggregate age and it will take into account anyone in the groups health issues. So if you are in a small company and have two people who have had a major health issue–a heart attach or a cancer say, your premiums will be high. We found this out when Steve stopped working for a non-profit health agency run by the Sisters of Providence and went out on his own. Our entire family’s health insurance was almost half of what just our contribution was. Crazy. That is partly why health inusrance numbers only work if everyone is insured. Need the whole pool to make it affordable.
