It seems that the random thoughts are coming a bit easier lately, but maybe that is because I have taken my own advice and started to write them down.  Since I have plenty of football to keep track of and some beer to bottle, I will keep the lead-in short this week.  I will just let the thoughts speak for themselves.

Random thought #1 – I am sure that red ants serve some purpose in the universe, but I would (without hesitation) burn my entire yard to ashes if it meant that they would be gone forever.

Random thought #2 – Why am I just now learning about the existence of the interrobang?  I have been using a question mark and an exclamation point all this time like a dope!

Random thought #3 – I believe I now know how “throw pillows” got their name.  It must have been a result of their use by a rabid college basketball fan during games when their team is continuously turning the ball over.  There is at least one person I know who uses them that way and The Wife could tell you who that person is.

Random thought #4 – Jumping into a very cold pool is quite refreshing and enjoyable, but having water in your ear for hours and hours afterward almost makes it not worth it.

Random thought #5 – I suppose since most of Florida is about as flat as my driveway, I will no longer use the words “hike” or “hiking” when describing what will now be referenced to as “trail walking.”  My friends in Colorado will certainly support that decision.

An example of Florida "trail walking"

I feel much better now and can go on with my weekend!

  1. No “hiking” in Fla. <interrobang>

First there were beer snobs. Now there are hike snobs.

  2. Your Northeast friend agrees, its not a hike unless you travel at least a couple thousand vertical feet.

  3. Colorado friend chiming in…I’m with the still famous S. Jim on this one. Hike involves vertical feet, of which you have a mere 345 feet, and that’s way up on the Alabama state line. Glad to see that you understand the terrain, pun intended.

  4. Give this one a shot sometime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Elbert It’s the only 14er I’ve done, but thought I’d get the highest one out of the way first, besides it’s not the most difficult one. Now that’s a hike.
