May 202010
Most of the beer news is currently resulting from American Craft Beer Week, but since Florida is void of any official beer week to claim as its own I am going elsewhere for my news today in protest. That and there were some other stories that I found pretty interesting. Since I am on record with my protest though, I will certainly take full credit if a city in Florida ends up with an official beer week next year. Of course I would also request to be a guest of honor at all of the festivities.
Moving on . . .
- First is the North Carolina city currently leading the vote for Beer City USA 2010. Now you could write in your own city if it is not already on the list, but it seems to me that the big players are already on there.
- The quest to claim the strongest beer in the world continues, as does the debate between the two breweries vying for the crown. I have yet to try either, so someone let me know if the brews are actually any good of if it is all gimmick (as it appears to be).
- A college (university to be exact) lends its name to a beer brewed by an in-state brewery. Though they don’t make any money from it, I will be sure to support the school by sampling it next time I can make it to Portland.
- Though there are smaller breweries that have also gone the way of solar power, one of the big boys is continuing to set a good example for companies of its size by incorporating even more sustainable energy practices.
- We close today with something that made me chuckle (though really isn’t funny). He needs to work on his negotiating skills because I would think that you could get much more than a few forties.

No beer picture today . . . Atlantis lunch from my back yard instead.
Cheers!
