Since November is coming to an end I was looking for some interesting Dogfish content to close out “Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Month.”  Realizing that I have yet to get my hands on some Sah’tea and will not be reviewing it right away, it seemed a good idea to showcase it a little bit.  It has been mentioned on this site before in an article linked last month.

I knew the special method they used to add unique character to this beer, but it was great to see it in action.  If I can get my hands on some sauna rocks maybe I will give this a try at home!

  1. Give it a try. It is a good beer. My brother-in-law did it in a garage in Deltona with a brown ale. It was a bit mineral like, but it was good. He bought some lava rocks and had a rippin’ fire, then dumped them in. By the way, we are brewing in January, probably a blonde, to get ready for the spring. You should come up and check out the process and the contraption.

    • Seems like it would add a mineral flavor though maybe it depends on the rocks used. Let me know when you get closer to brewing, I absolutely would like to see the contraption. It would be nice to look at someone else’s set up before going too far with one of my own.
