Today is another Boulder Beer Company brew as a follow up to the Hazed & Infused review from the other day.  They were initially reviewed on back-to-back days, so they deserve to be posted in the same manner.

Every time I look back on reviews that were done months and months ago I feel the need to reevaluate the beer.  That is not so much because I think I would change my grade, but because I think my palate has gotten better and I could more accurately describe the characteristics.  With so many other beers out there that I have yet to try I don’t see it happening with this one anytime soon, but maybe someday.

Now for the Labor Day review . . .

Brewery: Boulder Beer Company (Boulder, CO)

Name: Mojo

Style: American IPA

ABV: Somewhere between 6.80% (as shown on their website) and 7.2% (as indicated on the bottle)

Tasting Notes: Stored in the fridge and served in a pint glass.

Aroma: Moderately floral, slightly resinous hoppy aroma with a light honey-like sweetness in back.

Appearance: Medium gold color with some orange tint.  Two finger (plus), off-white head that is thick and frothy with good retention and leaving a nice laced trail.  Crystal clear with rising bubbles visible.

Flavor: Medium level of hop flavor (without harsh bitterness) up front with some underlying malt sweetness that cuts the hoppiness a bit.  Slight dryness and a harsher hop flavor at finish.  The balance is to the hops (as expected), but not overwhelmingly so.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light body with a moderate level of carbonation (lending no real bite).  Somewhat smooth and creamy on the palate.

Overall Impressions: Fairly mild hop flavor for an IPA (to me), but the aroma and flavor match up pretty well.  Enjoyable enough that I could certainly drink a few, but not likely to be a regular beer for me to have.  The Wife liked the aroma, but not the flavor.

Grade: B-(ish)
